EASTER SEASON

Lent has concluded as has the Triduum. THE Resurrection has happened. We are now in 50 days of the Easter Season starting with the Resurrection, Christ’s death and victory over sin, and ending with Pentecost and the descent of the Holy Spirit. During this time, the priests wear white and gold vestments, light the Paschal candle and once again the Gloria and Alleluia are sung at Mass, signifying joy and rejoicing.

The first eight days are referred to as the Octave of Easter, solemnities of the Lord. The second Sunday of Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday (since 2000). Another feast during this time, is the Ascension of the Lord, which is celebrated 40 days after Easter.

The feast of Easter is the central focal point of Christian faith, believing that the resurrection means that we too will one day have eternal life. It’s so important that we celebrate this season for 50 days.

“If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty too your faith…..For, if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised., and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is in vain.”(1Corinthians 14, 16-17).

Enjoy the Season!
